A network of excellence
The Foundation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris is a network of excellence created in 2006. Its members are large research institutions in the Paris area: the University of Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (UPMC), the University of aris-Diderot (UPD P7), the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the University of Paris-Dauphine, the Collège de France, the INRIA, the University of Paris-Descartes and the University of Paris Nord.
The Foundation also carries out a Laboratory of Excellence, the LabEx SMP.
Bringing together close to 1200 researchers in mathematical sciences and covering a wide spectrum which includes most of the top themes in fundamental and applied mathematics, plus fundamental computer science, the Foundation is unique in its field, both by its dimension and its scientific potential.
The foundation has three main missions :
- Support fundamental and applied research
- Increase collaborations with the best international scientific institutions
- Develop the public and private sector research partnerships
Focus
RDM-IdF call for applications
The RDM-IdF (Réseau de Recherche Doctoral en Mathématiques de l'Île de France) offers 12 doctoral allocations for academic year 2012-2013 to master students who are planning to follow their Ph.D in a doctoral school from Île-de-France (Paris area).
The call for applications is open from February 1st to April 30th 2012.

The laureates of the Research Chair of Excellence 2012 are Michael I. Jordan (Berkeley) and Gunther Uhlmann (University of Washington).

Laure Saint-Raymond, Professor at University Pierre et Marie Curie, currently working at the Department of Mathematics and Applications of the Ecole Normale Supérieure received the Prix Joliot Curie of the « Young Scientific Woman »
Former Ph.D students awarded
Two former Ph.D students of the LJLL, one of the Fondation's laboratories, have just been awarded by the Chancellerie de Paris : Jean-Marie Mirebeau receives the Prix Perrissin-Pirasset/Schneider and Nicolas Rougerie receives the Prix Rosemont-Demassieux.
Sino-French Research Program in Mathematics
The Foundation is participating to the Sino-French Research Program in Mathematics (SFRPM), which has been created in 2011 to enhance the collaborative research between Chinese and French mathematicians.

Ivan Nourdin, laureate 2011 of the Foundation's Prize is giving in 2012 a course of 7 lectures that will take place on monday's: January 23rd and 30th, February 6th and 13th, March 5th, 12th and 19th at the Collège de France, 3 rue d'Ulm, 75005 Paris.
