The project "Instabilities in hydrodynamics" offers a one year post-doctoral position in mathematics (theorical or numerical PDE). This position is to be filled as from autumn 2013.
Applications to the post-doctoral program hydrodynamical instabilities are specific to the "Emergence(s)" project. It is possible to apply to the other positions of the post-doctoral program of the FSMP, but two applications have then to be submitted.
The Foundation's postdoctoral programs are supported by the City of Paris.
The laureate for year 2012-2013
Chao WANG (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science,Chinese Academy of Sciences).
Project :
The ambition of our research program is to study the contact problem in fluid-solid dynamics within more realistic nonlinear models,Navier-Stokes/Newton(NS-N) system.
The goal of the postdoc is twofold:
1) To develop the Cauchy theory for (NS-N).
2) To establish the blow-up of solutions of (NS-N) through contact, in the slip case.
Eligibility criteria
The position is open to holders of a doctorate in mathematics obtained in France or in a foreign country before October 1st, 2013.
The selection will be based on excellence in scientific accomplishment.
Work contract conditions of the recruited post-docs
The post-doctoral fellow will receive a net salary of € 2,500.00 per month and thus benefit from health insurance and social coverage.
(S)he will participate in the scientific activities of the project.
