For non specialists

What's the job of a mathematician ?

What kind of problems do the researchers work on ?

Where do their questions come from ?

...

This non-exhaustive list shows the non specialists perplexity face of mathematical research. In this page, the Foundation is answering these questions.

You can find here articles accessible to the general public on current mathematical themes, mathematicians portraits, testimonies of researchers...

ICM 2014 : Artur Avila Fields medalist

The Congrès International des Mathématiciens (ICM) held every four years. This is one of the major events in the mondial mathematic life. The leading experts in the domain, are coming from around the globe, and meet there. This is where the most prestigious award, the Fields Medal, is awarded. The ICM 2014 held from 11 to 22 August 2014 in SeoulSouth Korea. Once more, France confirmed its mathematical searching Excellence because one French Brazilian mathematician, Artur Avila, won the Fields Medal. The Foundation was in Seoul and invite you to read the narrative of the Congrès highlights on the blog http://www.icm2014seoul-blog.com/
