PGSM International PhD program

This call is intended for students who did not prepare a Master in France.

Next call will open on October 1st 2015 until December, 1st 2015 (11.59pm Paris time) for contracts starting in fall 2016.

Two positions will be offered.

The selection process will be managed by the Scientific committee of the FSMP. Selected applicants will be invited for a 2 or 3-month pre-doctoral training in Paris, which is mandatory and should take place before end of july 2016. Under the responsibility of their intended PhD advisor, in their future research team, they will work on a research project and write a memoir. After completion of the research project, the intended PhD advisor will establish a report. Both documents will be sent to the steering commitee. In view of the memoir and of the report, the steering committee takes the final decision concerning the funding of the applicant. Successful applicants will then be invited to enter this PhD program.

Housing and travel expenses during the training will be covered by the FSMP : up to 1500 euros for 3 months or 500 euros per month.

Financial Support

Successful applicants will receive about 1450 euros (net salary, social benefits included) per month as a salary (Contrat d’études doctorales, subject to the décret n° 2009-464, April 23, 2009; the exact amount may vary depending on the universities). This is a 3-year contract. The contract starts after the inscription in one of the Ecoles doctorales in the perimeter of the foundation and is automatically interrupted if the inscription is not renewed on time.

Application process

During your application process, you'll need to provide some documents :

  • Pre-PhD internship project
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter of application
  • Master certificate and school transcripts (M1/M2)
  • Letter(s) of recommendation(s): do not forget de mention (step 4 of the application process) the e-mail address of the professors who wish to send recommendation letters. They will receive an automatic email to upload their letter.


Complete application will be studied only.

Applicants are invited to submit to their application all documents they think are important (rankings, ranking in national and international competitions ...) That would help to determine the level of the application. All the given information must be official. Moreover, the authors of the recommendation's letters are, if possible, encouraged to provide elements of comparison that can be checked.
