The Institut national des sciences mathématiques et de leurs interaction (Insmi), the Centre de recherche mathématiques (CRM), the Foundation mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH) and the Foundation Sciences mathématiques de Paris (FSMP) have signed an agreement aimed at stimulating cooperation in mathematical research between France and Quebec in line with their respective missions.

This agreement involves the establishment of exchanges for doctoral students and researchers.

Doctoral student exchanges

Subject to the agreement of the parties involved in the exchange:

• Doctoral students from an FSMP member laboratory may be hosted at a CRM partner university through the FSMP's “doctoral student stay” program, subject to compliance with the program's conditions, for a period of between one and three months.
• Doctoral students from a FMJH member laboratory may be hosted at a CRM partner university through the CRM program “FRQ support for the CRM-CNRS laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM,” subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of between two weeks and three months.
• Doctoral students from a CRM partner university may be hosted:
  • In one of the FMJH member laboratories through the FMJH program “Junior Scientific Visibility: Incoming Mobility” and subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of between one and two months,
  • In one of the FSMP member laboratories through the CRM program "FRQ Support for the CRM-CNRS Laboratory: research internships in France for CRM students" program and subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of between one and six months.

Researcher exchanges

Researchers from CRM partner universities may be hosted:

• In one of the CNRS laboratories:
  • through the Insmi program “Hosting foreign researchers in ‘red posts’” subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of three months,
  • through the CRM program “FRQ support for the CRM-CNRS laboratory: long-term research stays in France for CRM members” subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of less than six months;
• In one of the FSMP member laboratories through the FSMP “Visiting Professors” program, subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of between two and three months.
• In one of the FMJH member laboratories through the FMJH “Visiting Researchers” program, subject to compliance with the conditions, for a period of between one and six months;

Researchers who are members of CNRS laboratories, including teacher-researchers, may be hosted at one of the CRM's partner universities through the

• CNRS IRL assignment program, subject to compliance with the conditions (in particular, obtaining a CNRS delegation for teaching and research staff), for a period of at least six months;
• CRM program “FRQ support for the CRM-CNRS laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM” and subject to compliance with the conditions for a period of between two weeks and three months.

Researchers from FMJH or FSMP member laboratories may be hosted at one of the CRM's partner universities through the CRM program “FRQ support for the CRM-CNRS laboratory: visits by researchers and students from France to the CRM” and subject to compliance with the conditions for a period of between two weeks and three months.

The agreement is valid for five years from the date of signature. Either party may terminate its participation by sending a letter at least six months before the desired end date.

Renewal of the agreement

The cooperation activities covered by this agreement will be evaluated six months before the end of the first five-year period. If the parties are satisfied with the actions taken, the agreement may be renewed for a further five-year period by means of an amendment.
