China-France cooperation programs in mathematics
China-France Talent Class in Mathematics (CTMCF) with University of Sciences and Technology of China (USTC)
The China-France Talent Class in Mathématiques (CTMCF) was launched in 2019 and reconducted the 26th of October 2023, for 5 years, between the University of Science et Technology of China (USTC) and FSMP and FMJH (Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard).
The elegible masters to this cooperation program are:
- in FMJH network:
- the Master Mathematics et Applications of University Paris-Saclay,
- in FSMP network, the masters of :
- Sorbonne University,
- University Paris Cité,
- University Sorbonne Paris-Nord,
- University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne,
- PSL University, including Ecole Normale Supérieure and University Paris-Dauphine,
- University Paris Nanterre.
The list of the elegible masters from FSMP network are those concerned by PGSM program. Appliations are made via PGSM.
The CTMCF program will be accessible to USTC majors who are in good standing. The students enrolled within the terms of the agreement will be supported until their graduation from the CTMCF program.
Education Committee
On the french side, the program is managed by an Education Committee whose members are:
- Laurent Lafforgue (Fields Medal 2002, Huawei Technologies France), Director
- Pierre Colmez (CNRS, IMJ-PRG)
- Charles Favre (CNRS, École Polytechnique)
- Jean-François Le Gall (Université Paris-Saclay)
- Xiaonan Ma (Université Paris Cité, IMJ-PRG), Secretary
- Stéphane Nonnenmacher (Université Paris-Saclay, LMO)
- Marc Rosso Université (Paris Cité, IMJ-PRG), Executive director
- Emmanuel Trélat (Sorbonne-Université, LJLL)
FMJH and FSMP allow the education committee to supervise the quality of the students.
On the Chinese side, the education committee is that of the USTC School of Mathematical Sciences.
Professor Xinan MA (USTC) is the coordinator between these two education committees.
China-France Talent Class in Mathematics (CTMCF) with University of Wuhan
The China-France Mathematics Talent Class (CTMCF) program is a cooperation agreement between Wuhan University (WHU) and Université Paris-Cité (UPCité). It came into force on May 31, 2024.
WHU is involved in the admission of students to its Master 2 programs.

Former Sino-French program
The Sino-French Research Program in Mathematics (SFRPM) was created in 2011 to foster scientific collaboration between Chinese and French mathematicians. This program helped finance one- or two-week exchanges for a specific scientific collaboration between Chinese and French mathematicians from the SFRPM network of institutions. A joint publication was expected at the end of the collaboration. SFRPM also supported an intensive workshop program for young researchers.
SFRPM founders are
- Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research de l'Université de Pékin (BICMR)
- Chern Institute of Mathematics of University of Nankai (CIM)
- Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH)
- Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP)
- Institut Joseph Fourier at Grenoble University (UJF)
- The School of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Science and Technology of China at Hefei (USTC)
Other research centers joined the SFRPM network as partners.
The SFRPM program was co-directed by Gang Tian (BICMR) and Hans Henrick Rugh (FMJH).
This highly flexible program was open to all fields of mathematics.
The program's activities were placed under the responsibility of a scientific committee made up of :
- Gérard Besson (UJF),
- Sinnou David (FSMP),
- Jiayu Li (USTC),
- Yiming Long (CIM),
- Frank Pacard (FMJH),
- Gang Tian (BICMR).
